Urban Oasis Underway in Cole/RiNo

Bacon Lane Architect LLC is helping an eclectic couple build an urban oasis in the transitional Cole/RiNo neighborhood. This large lot was comprised of two neglected properties – two 3 unit row houses dating from the 1880’s and one small 1-1/2 story single family home dating from the early 1900’s, totaling 9,415 sf (.22 acres). The owners wanted to reuse the existing boarded up row house structures, so Bacon Lane Architect LLC proposed incorporating the smaller row house into the new home design and deconstructing the larger row house to preserve the perimeter walls along the property line and sidewalk. This approach creates an urban “ruin” of sorts and allows the public to look into the garden while providing security and containment to the courtyard. The original structure of the single family home was also incorporated into the design.

Construction to start Spring 2019, Squareroot Construction. The below video flyby gives a feel for what the future home will look like.
