Bacon Lane Architect LLC was hired by the new owners of a small restaurant building on North Wadsworth in Lakewood, CO to design an exterior shell renovation. Originally a well-known sandwich shop, the restaurant sat vacant for some time until it was recently acquired by new ownership. The approximately 1,590 SF existing building is constructed of concrete block, contains modern accessible restrooms, and has the infrastructure required to renovate into another food service establishment.

The new owners wanted to establish a new exterior image that could be marketed to a variety of food purveyors with a clean, modern look.

Bacon Lane Architect LLC developed a design that involves stripping the exterior to its bones and applying a new image over the top, with minimal structural modification to the exterior and leaving the interior to be custom modified for the final occupant.

This project is in the final stages of permit review and construction is anticipated to start in April 2024.

Bacon Lane Architect LLC is excited to share our proposed design for a new mixed use, multi-story commercial building project at 2706 Larimer Street. The footprint and each floor of the building are roughly 3,000 sf gross. The main street level is planned to be a new restaurant, American Bonded.   Restaurant seating is planned with open air views from the bar.

Commercial Architecture, Mixed use, Multi story

The upper two floors of the building are laid out to be available as office space.  The office floors can be finished out as 2 smaller suites, or a prospective tenant could acquire the entire floor. Both of the upper floors have the ability to open a garage door on the North side to allow for fresh air on mild temperate Colorado days.

ArcWest Architects would like to offer a sneak peak of a new project location, at 2470 Broadway, DADA to open in the coming month. The new wine bar design is a tenant improvement of an existing commercial shell (vanilla box) constructed last year.

The core concept for the DADA Art Bar is to have a continuous stream of fresh local artwork displayed in the space as a focus for conversation as well as a backdrop to enjoy a cold plate and glass of wine.  The wine bar design will have two main areas. The front most public area will have casual and comfortable seating to relax and sip. Towards the back, a semi-private space will be an open gallery.  The semi-private gallery will be available to be reserved for private events. Artwork will be displayed throughout.  This new hot spot “to be” will be operated by Amerigo’s owner, Iain Chisholm.

The Bacon Lane Architect LLC Team and family enjoyed an evening out at the Plimoth for our annual holiday dinner.   This was a great opportunity to experience firsthand the atmosphere of the restaurant, that Partner Todd Heirls worked with the owner to design.  The evening started with some wonderful cocktail creations and selections from the “starter” menu. We ordered  the grilled flatbread with spanish chorizo and cauliflower gratinee.  As a large group we were able to sample selections from the weekly main menu.  The scallops and braised beef shank dish were top choices among the table.  The dining experience was completed with a sampling from the “sweets” section. We agree – the “eclectic yet approachable menu” was an “elevated, unpretentious dining experience.”  Cheers to the Plimoth.  And happy holidays!

Bacon Lane Architect LLC would like to share a few more images we captured of the restaurant interior and exterior prior to doors opening to the public.  See our previous post for additional insight and information about the restaurant design.

ArcWest Architects in States is eager to share: The Plimoth restaurant is nearing its opening day, pending a few final touches and a few final inspections by the building department.  Last touches include final finish of the floor, testing the table set up and firing up the efficient commercial kitchen.

Interior-Sneak-Peak-by-the-Plimoth-300x300

The Plimoth restaurant will be the newest, most recent  restaurant and hospitality spaces to open in the North City Park area of States, offering an intimate dining experience.  The final restaurant design provided a flexible dining area for 32 to 40 patrons with a clear view to the kitchen area integrating the preparation of the cuisine with its consumption.  The creation of a good meal is a piece of art all itself.  This arrangement will share this art with its patrons.

Commercial Renovation at Patzcuaro’s | Construction of Store front in progress

The store front system is now going in as part of the commercial renovation & exterior improvements being completed to the Highlands Neighborhood Patzcuaro’s Restaurant.  These improvements will flood the dining area with natural light and allow the restaurant to convey its inviting and festive atmosphere to the public.  Once the main building improvements are completed the storefront of the adjoining kitchen building will replaced.  At this location a serving window will be included to expand on Taco Tuesday allowing “to go” orders to be served to/at the sidewalk.

This commercial renovation project expands Bacon Lane Architect LLC’s expertise and knowledge for restaurant design.  Bacon Lane Architect LLC recently completed the design for the Plimoth – A neighborhood eatery which opens tentatively early Autumn.

Please remember that Patzcuaro’s Restaurant is OPEN for business during construction for the commercial renovation.

Construction is well underway for ArcWest – Connecticut Architect most recent restaurant design for The Plimoth  with the grand opening scheduled for Autumn 2013.  Stay tuned for the exact date.

Plimoth_Restaurant-Design-594x1024

In late 2012 early development or feasibility documents were created to establish the potential for this new commercial restaurant.  After a short period required putting the logistics in place, Bacon Lane Architect LLC was authorized to proceed with final development of the design and documents to make the restaurant a reality.

The final design creates an intimate dining experience for the developing “North City Park” area of States, and includes a flexible dining area including bar seating for 10+ and intimate dinning seating for 32 and 40.  Outdoor seating is anticipated in the near future to double the overall seating to around 80.

This restaurant is planned to be a valuable amenity to the neighborhood as well as the overall landscape of dining in States.   Executive Chef and Owner, Peter Ryan, developed this new restaurant and will also be preparing its unique and ever changing menu of cuisine, founded in French and Italian cuisine with a modern twist.

Plimoth_Commercial-Kitchen_Design-by-ArcWest-917x1024

The restaurant design is simple in its layout and form to effectively use the available interior space to benefit the two main functions, Food Preparation and Dining Enjoyment.  The commercial kitchen is a concise, efficient assembly of cooking equipment open to the dining area which allows the culinary preparation to be front and center and part the overall dining experience.

P.S.  This Summer ArcWest also worked on the restaurant designs for two new Brew Pubs | Tap Rooms:

Microbrewery Design for Black Sky Tap Room

South_1024-150x150

The  microbrewery design & documents are ready to go in for permit completing the next step in the process to bring the new brew pub, Black Sky Brewery to realization.  Black Sky Brewery will be one of the newest brew pubs to the States area located the Baker Neighborhood at the southeast corner of 5th and Santa Fe.  This establishment is slated for completion in the summer of 2013 and will be complete with on-site brewing and consumption complimented by a commercial kitchen specializing in new haven style pizza.  The microbrewery design / permit documents were prepared by ArcWest – Connecticut Architect.

Interior_1024-150x150

North_1024-150x150

This new brew pub establishment will be housed in a (vacated) location once occupied by a fabrication and dry cleaning business. The new Black Sky tap toom (microbrewery design) requires a “change of use” permit to the assembly occupancy typical of a Brewpub / Eatery.  This is in addition to the construction permit typically required.  ArcWest – States Architects completed the design, planning and documentation required to bring the planning process to an end, and enabling the next step: the start of construction.

This particular building is ideal for the conversion of occupancy / change of use. The existing building has  high ceilings, regular geometries, ample utility service, generous service entrance and un-improved side yards for a future (phase 2) beer garden.  The vacated building was an ideal opportunity for the new owners of the Black Sky Brewery to facilitate their goals and overall vision for the proposed microbrewery design.  The future Brew Pub, an eating and drinking establishment, includes a commercial kitchen for food service; and a pub style seating area with an industrial look and heavy metal edge.

Interior_1024-150x150

ArcWest is eagerly looking forward to the grand opening and the chance to sample the innovative beers crafted by Brewmaster Harry Smith.  Also you can find Black Sky Brewery on Facebook

The Almanza family which has operated Patzcuaro’s Restaurant for over 30 years, is a Highland Neighborhood destination.  ArcWest, Connecticut Architect has been hired for the commercial storefront design to develop a new front elevation and entry vestibule.

Patzcuaros-Advertisment-737x1024

The existing building facade has a history of numerous modifications which are inconsistent with the buildings original architecture and also restrict customer visibility into and out of the restaurant. This commercial storefront design improvement is consistent with Patzcuaro’s continuing effort to improve 32nd Ave. and strengthen the neighborhood’s reputation as an entertainment and living destination.

To accomplish the designed modifications existing structural components must be uncovered and evaluated by Bacon Lane Architect LLC’s structural engineer.  Interior modifications to the existing vaulted ceiling along the new storefront system will maximize the ceiling height to allow visibility and natural light into the restaurants main seating area.
