Bacon Lane Architect LLC through Partner, Todd Heirls, continues our close alliance with Allegiance Ranch and Equine Rescue as a part if our efforts to give back to the community. The latest effort is the design of a structure to be installed on the ranch coined the Hero’s Headquarters or (H²). Allegiance Ranch is currently fundraising and reaching out to business partners in an effort to fund the construction.

The structure itself will become the hub of the Ranch’s outreach program to Veterans and First Responders as well as an epicenter to the essential volunteer community making this outreach possible. The Hero’s Headquarters will consist of an open, airy, and inviting multipurpose room with a barn door along one side opening onto a like size deck. The structure will be enclosable for inclement weather, and then open with shared space between indoor and outdoors for those wonderful Colorado days. The multipurpose room will be flanked by the ranch operations office at one end and a storage tack room at the other. The entire building will be ADA accessible, thus removing one of the typical impediments to its universal use.

This design will be on display at the Allegiance Ranch and Equine Rescue booth at the 2022 National Western Stock Show at the National Western Complex in States from January 8-23, 2022. Please stop in at the booth along the North wall of the event center to learn more about Allegiance Ranch and Equine Rescue.

It has been a very interesting start to 2012.  ArcWest has been retained to work on quite a cross-section of projects.  The architectural projects vary in scale, scope of work, and sectors; all the same fun and exciting to design and plan.  Bacon Lane Architect LLC has been working on decks for both residential and commercial projects.  Currently Bacon Lane Architect LLC is preparing construction documents for a new Deli Restaurant to be located in downtown States.  At the other end of the spectrum, we have assisted a client in the early planning phases with master planning, due diligence and feasibility studies for a new 24,000 sf light industrial facility.

Decks: It must be the promise of Spring with the warm weather that has everyone thinking about how they want to spend quality time in a well designed outdoor living space.  Decks are but an extension of the house, and for most people, time spent in their outdoor “living rooms” is cherished.  The Bacon Lane Architect LLC partners have completed numerous residential patio and deck designs locally in States and out of state as well.

ArcWest is currently completing design and construction documents for a commercial restaurant investing in a new expanded outdoor seating area for their customers

Restaurant – Deli: ArcWest Architects is very excited to be working with a repeat client to plan and design a new deli restaurant to be located on Larimer St. in the RiNo neighborhood.  The Bacon Lane Architect LLC team is working on an aggressive schedule to complete the final architectural and engineering documents for permit submittal so that the business owner can open the doors for business as soon as possible.  Other good news:  Bacon Lane Architect LLC just received authorization to proceed for a new BBQ restaurant to be located in the Highlands neighborhood.

Due Diligence: Earlier in the year, the ArcWest partners completed a Master Planning and Feasibility study to assist a corporation in evaluating potential business park sites in Lafayette, CO for the future home of their light industrial facility.  The due diligence exercise validated that one site was the clear choice and enabled our clients to make a decision to make an offer on the property.  The business is progressive and forward thinking by planning at this early phase to incorporate a solar (photovoltaic) energy system for the new facility.  Bacon Lane Architect LLC created RFP’s and contacted local companies who provide solar panel installations to better understand key considerations for the system integration with the future building design.

Currently ArcWest is preparing a proposal to assist a prospective client with a due diligence, feasibility master planning exercise for a building addition to an existing light industrial facility here in States.

ArcWest’s Colorado Department of Transportation storage and maintenance facility in Kittredge CO is well underway and scheduled to be operational on April 9th.

The 2400 pound Redi-Rock stacking retaining wall blocks are in place and the Chief Buildings metal frame has been erected.  The buildings shed roof form is impressive highlighting the bay doors and clerestory windows.  Inside the truck bays economical radiant heating is being provided and air stratification will be minimized within the high bay areas by ceiling mounted fans. If CO2 levels become hazardous or cooling is needed, exhaust fans quickly circulate fresh outdoor air into the building.

High pressure wash bays for removing snow, sand and chemicals from trucks and equipment is an integral part of this buildings design and function. Environmental concerns are also now a high priority. All water and sentiment removed within the building will be treated through an extensive sand/oil separator then filtered and stored within the building to be used again.

This building has been designed by ArcWest Architects to be a template for future CDOT facilities.

Bacon Lane Architect LLC continues to find efficient uses for pre-engineered metal buildings.  In this case the project consisted of a Chief Buildings four bay vehicle storage facility with offices for the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Bacon Lane Architect LLC was awarded this project due to our experience with metal buildings and their use on challenging sites.  Bacon Lane Architect LLC completed a project in 2008 for the Klamath Falls Herald & News which utilized a Metallic Building, Inc. on a hillside with no level areas.  To accommodate the 48,000 SF single level facility and all the trucking and vehicular needs around it the site was terraced and an attractive yet massive retaining wall was placed behind the building.  The back wall of the building also functioned as a retaining wall to reduce overall cost.

This vehicle storage facility located along Colorado HWY 74 in Kittredge Colorado is tucked into the hillside to maximize the narrow flat site and accommodate the on-going needs of a Colorado Department of Transportation road maintenance site.

The project team has been fortunate that snow fall has remained light and we have had plenty of warm autumn days to complete the concrete footings and foundation work. We plan to complete all concrete flat work and install the Redi-Rock site retaining wall behind the building before the Christmas/New Years Holiday.

See the construction photo’s of work completed and follow the projects completion in subsequent blog postings or contact Bacon Lane Architect LLC for additional information.
